Getting lost in Mouraria's winding streets is a trip into the past, and part of the neighbourhood's authentic appeal. The Azure Terrace is situated in a house typical for the neighbourhood, which means that the outside (in stark contrast to the home itself) is a bit scruffy. The Azure Terrace is a home with all the features we want to see in a Lisbon Plum home – a private terrace, cute rustic design with lots of modern features and plenty of natural light. The abundance of fado shown in the vicinity is just a bonus.

Home truths
This home doesn't have a lot of storage space – you'll struggle to unpack two full suitcases in the bedrooms
The kitchen is more of a kitchenette, with no dishwasher, or oven
There is no elevator to this first-floor home – those with limited mobility or heavy suitcases beware
The second bedroom's only window overlooks the master, so natural light isn't abundant

Local guide
About Mouraria
With street performers, Fado shows and lots of unmissable sights, Mouraria should be at the top of your list. A trip through its narrow streets is like stepping back in time, revisiting the rich cultural background even before the great earthquake of 1755. In fact, the story goes that Fado was born in Mouraria, and it’s since made its way to the UNESCO World Heritage list. Although it’s quite central, this neighbourhood has a strong local community and an independent art scene that will show you a side of old, nostalgic Lisbon that you won’t find anywhere else.
